The Moon, Earth's natural satellite, with its phases, eclipses, and different aspects, has always fascinated humans. It is connected with myths, traditions, beliefs, dreams, and mystery. A powerful symbol, a source of inspiration for science and the arts, but also a reflection of emotions, psychological states, and moods. It influences the life of all beings on Earth and the planet's natural mechanisms.

The Moon symbolizes feminine nature and identity, representing feminine power and resilience. As a Mother Goddess, it offers energy and protection. It is characterized by contrasts: light and darkness, waxing and waning, birth and death, introspection, and revelation of human nature.

It is the only celestial body whose surface is visible from our planet with the naked eye. Over the centuries, people have studied it, observed it, and tried to map it.

Galileo Galilei was among the first to realistically depict the moon with his astronomical discoveries, and later Johannes Hevelius developed the art of astronomy, designing and engraving maps with precise optical representation.

Inspired by the moon maps of J. Hevelius, I created a brooch by designing my own topographic map of the Moon, embroidered with thread on canvas in the circular shape of the full moon.
